Jhaya Battle
WWHS Senior, Jhaya Battle auditioned for, and was accepted into, the 2016 Virginia Honors Choir. This ensemble is made up of approximately 130 seniors across the state of Virginia. The city of Portsmouth has not had a student chosen for Honors Choir since 2000.
Jhayla has also been chosen as the Robert Stamback Honors Choir Memorial Award recipient. This award will cover the majority of the cost for Jhayla to attend the Honors Choir event. One award is given each year.
The 2016 Honors Choir will be performing at the Homestead Resort in Hot Springs Virginia. The performance is November 19th, after two days of intense rehearsal. As the Stamback Award winner, Jhayla will receive an engraved plaque and be recognized at the performance.
